Ordu
Ordu, the city bearing the same name as the province, is a charming and pleasant small seaside town nestled amidst green hazelnut tree-covered hillsides. Geographically, the Eastern Black Sea region begins here at the Melet river found on the edge of the city. This little known place boasts several historic churches, restored Ottoman-period mansions which now serve as a hotel and museum, sugar sand beaches and a dramatic hilltop visitors establishment where you may dine while watching fabulous sunsets transform into glittering cityscapes below. Ordu Province has the most beautiful stretch of coastal roadway running just west of the neighboring town Perşembe (pear-shem-bay). The road hugs the green clad mountains as you wind around hidden coves, bays and peninsulas. Along this roadway you can find several intimate restaurants offering breathtaking views of pristine coastline. The remote peninsula of Jason's Point (Yason Burnu) juts out into the sea affording incredible views of the majestic mainland and stunning visions of captivating sunsets. The ruins of a historic church on this peninsula are being meticulously restored under authority of the Ministry of Culture. Whether strolling along a shoreline of crushed seashells or sampling a local specialty at the cozy rustic cafe, a visit to Jason's Point is truly an experience to be savored.
