"Your window to a new world of travel possibilities"

Giresun, around 20 miles east of Ordu, is the self-proclaimed hazelnut capital of the world much to Ordu's chagrin. There is a serious rivalry going on here. Whereas Ordu has a more conservative feel to it, by contrast Giresun prides itself on being more innovative and trendy. Such is the relationship between these 'twin cities'. The landmark of Giresun: Perched atop a high costal hill sits the ruins of medieval Giresun Castle surrounded by a lush green park. From this vantage point, accessible by either foot or vehicle from the city center, you can enjoy panoramic views of the entire city, nearby mountain ranges, and the sparkling sea with its only known habitable island in the region. Reached from the shore in half an hour, Giresun Island is a favorite place for summer picnics. Giresun too has lovely restored Orthodox and Catholic church buildings now serving as a museum and library respectively. In the nearby vicinity you may stroll through the Zeytinlik (Olive Grove) District which contain several old homes protected by historic preservation laws. Come and experience Giresun's many enjoyable offerings.
